Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Miss Walt; a post-race sample was subsequently collected from the greyhound which was the winner of the event.
Evie Willow was slow to begin.
Lucinda and Just Jimmy collided soon after the start, and again at the 300m mark, checking Miss Walt. Just Jimmy checked off Lucinda approaching the 250m mark. Lucinda and Octo Flash collided at the 250m mark. Lucinda veered out and marred the running of Octo Flash at the 200m mark. Evie Willow, Just Jimmy, Doran's Flame and Cilla Gem collided at the 200m mark, checking Just Jimmy and Doran's Flame. Just Jimmy checked off Doran's Flame at the 100m mark. Doran's Flame checked off Evie Willow at the 50m mark.
Lucinda was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No veterinary stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr N Haigh, the kennel representative for the greyhound Lucinda, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 200m mark. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Lucinda with marring. Mr Haigh pleaded guilty to the charge, Lucinda was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
