This race was delayed by approximately 1 minute to hold for a Belmont thoroughbred race.
Blackpool Remi and Shady Thief were slow to begin. Drama Rama, Shady Thief, Secret Rama and Kip Moss collided soon after the start, checking Shady Thief and Kip Moss. General Missy crossed to the inside approaching the first turn, checking Secret Rama. Secret Rama and Shady Thief collided on the first turn, severely checking Shady Thief, which contacted the running rail as a result. Secret Rama and General Missy collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Secret Rama checked off General Missy approaching the home turn. Wild Bandit and Blackpool Remi collided approaching the home turn.
Shady Thief was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left monkey muscle, and a spike wound to the left hind fibula, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
