Stewards spoke to Trainer, Simon Mallia, regarding the nomination of Tinker Bes at today's meeting given that the greyhound raced at Healesville on Friday, 18 May, 2018.  Mr Mallia stated that he was preparing the greyhound for a coursing program as it is his intention to race Tinker Bess in both the Silver Doyle at Lang Lang and the Oaks at Longwood in forthcoming weeks and wanted to see how the greyhound backs up.

Magic Trap and Lanatis Dream were slow to begin.  Magic Kenz and Tinker Bess collided soon after the start.  Lanatis Dream crossed to the outside soon after the start and race wide throughout the race.  Magic Trap and Magic Kenz collided at the 250m mark.  Kazza Magoo, Magic Kenz and Tinker Bess collided at the 200m mark.

Lanatis Dream was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left and right chest muscles, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.  GRV Veterinary Officer, Dr A Kalinowski, reported to Stewards that this greyhound appeared to have an underlying back injury.  Stewards noted that Lanatis Dream had just returned to racing following a 21 day stand down period following a veterinary examination at Shepparton on 16 April, 2018.  Acting under GAR71(1) and GAR 71(2) Stewards directed that a veterinary certificate of soundness be produced on the greyhound and also undergo a Satisfactory Trial clearance before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr B Ender, the trainer of Rhiannon Royale, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Rhiannon Royale last raced at Healesville on 11 February, 2018.  Mr Ender stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after the greyhound has been prone to injury and spelling.

Mia Maestro and Valley Reaper were slow to begin.  Split Pea went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Mia Maestro and Rhiannon Royale collided several times from the 250m mark until the 200m mark.  Rhiannon Royale checked off Mia Maestro at the 150m mark.  Split Pea and Valley Reaper collided several times from the 150m mark until the 100m mark.  

A sample was taken from Zade's Magic - the winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to P Strutt, the trainer of Bull's Babe regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing.  Stewards reminded him of his responsibilities.

Stewards spoke to Trainer, Ms Christine Haigh, regarding the nomination of Lucinda in this event given that the greyhound has not raced competitively since 16 March, 2017 having succesfully cleared a satisfactory trial on 7 May, 2018.  Ms Haigh stated that the greyhound was returning to racing due to a change of kennel following an extended spell due to the previous owner suffering from an illness.   

Dreamliner, Our Rocket, Bombora Rocket and Perfect Chase collided soon after the start.  Dreamliner, Bombora Rocket and Perfect Chase collided approaching the 300m mark.  Lucinda crossed to the rail approaching the 300m mark, causing Lucinda, Harvey Warbanger and Smash Williams to collide several times until the 150m mark, checking all three greyhounds.  Smash Williams and Harvey Warbanger collided at the 150m amrk.  Smash Williams checked off Lucinda at the 150m mark.  Dreamliner and Perfect Chase collided approaching the 100m mark.

Pursuant to GAR 104(6), Ms Abbey Kemp did not act in any official capacity for this event (post race scanning) and was replaced by Mr Brendan Mulligan.

Hot Cruiser was slow to begin.

George The Black was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right flexor tendon and right shoulder, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Trainer, Ms N McRae, the Trainer of Joraddi regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Joraddi last raced at Warragul on 5 January, 2018.  Ms McRae stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right knee ligament injury.

Meehan Barney and Joraddi collided soon after the start.  Perfect Storm, Cailah Shakey, Royal Bruno and Price Tag collided soon after the start.  Price Tag crossed to the rail approaching the 300m mark, causing Price Tag, Cailah Shakey and Perfect Storm to collide several times from the 300m mark until the 250m mark, checking all three greyhounds.  Meehan Barney checked off Joraddi approaching the 250m mark.  Perfect Storm and Meehan Barney collided at the 200m mark.  Cailah Shakey and Meehan Barney collided approaching the winning post.

Aston Amore and Blue Magnum collided soon after the start.  Molly Walker, Cass' Cass and Mon Mekki Kahn collided soon after the start.  Aston Amore, Blue Magnum and Mini Tron collided at the 300m mark, checking Aston Amore and Blue Magnum.  Molly Walker crossed to the rail approaching the 250m mark.  Mon Mekki Khan crossed to the rail approaching the 200m mark, checking Mini Tron.  Mon Mekki Kahn and Cass' Cass collided approaching the winning post.

Sobered Up crossed to the rails soon after the start causing Bugs Boloney, Oozing Mojo and Bullocky Bill to collide.  Bugs Boloney and Bulloky Bill collided at the 250m.  Burbon An Kahn and Sobered Up collided at the 150m mark checking Bpurbon An Kahn.

River Crossing checked off Keep Talking soon after the start.  River Crossing, I'm All One and Ruby Cabang collided approaching the 300m mark, checking all three greyhounds.  Desperado Boy and River Crossing collided at the 300m mark.  Desperado Boy crossed to the outside at the 250m mark, checking River Crossing, I'm All One and Ruby Cabang.  I'm All One and Ruby Cabang collided approaching the 200m mark.  Ruby Cabang checked off I'm All One approaching the 150m mark.

Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr C Adcock, the Trainer of Garfdield Cloud, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Garfield Cloud last raced at Grafton on 1 January, 2018.  Mr Adcock stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a a change of kennel.

Garfield Cloud went up with the lids at boxrise and was very slow to begin (2 lengths).  Maggie Mikado, Tinker Buzz, Surf A Lot and Precious Metal collided soon after the start.  Black In Town and Lost Horizon collided at the 250m mark.  Black In Town checked off Surf A Lot at the 200m mark.  All Revved Up and Tinker Buzz collided several times from approaching the 150m mark until the 150m mark.  All Revved Up and Precious Metal collided approaching the winning post.

Lilrigg and Toby Sure were slow to begin.  Mini Dozer crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Vee Bee Mate and Ruby Gas.  Toby Sure and Vee Bee Mate collided at the 250m mark, causing Toby Sure to check off Vee Bee Mate.  Anndar Amoree and Moore Of Moore collided at the 150m mark, causing Moore Of Moore to collide with Rocky Rooster, checking Rocky Rooster, Anndar Amoree, Mini Dozer and Toby Sure and severely checking Moore Of Moore.  Vee Bee Mate brushed the running rail at the 100m mark.

During the kennelling process, Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr D Condon, the Trainer of Juno Away regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Juno Away last raced at Cranbourne on 21 February, 2018.  Mr Condon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a seasonal condition.  Mr Condon further stated that he believed Juno Away would start as favourite in this event after recently running a time of 17.95 in a public trial at Cranbourne on Monday, 14 May, 2018.  However, Mr Condon believes the greyhound may tire over the concluding stages and is not expecting the greyhound to win today.  Mr Condon also declared a new weight of 29.9 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Juno Away last competed at Cranbourne on 21 February, 2018 at a weight of 27.5 kgs.

A pre race sample was taken from Charlie Rocket.

Charlie Rocket, Hot Jean and Lady MIkado collided soon after teh start.  Meehan Deano and Alina Grand collided approaching the 250m mark.  Charlie Rocket, Hot Jean and Lady MIkado collided at the 250m mark.  Meehan Deano crossed to the outside at the 250m mark.  Superior Scotch and Juno Away colldied at the 200m mark, checking Juno Away.  Charlie Rocket checked off Juno Away approaching the 150m mark, checking Charlie Rocket.

Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr C Adcock, the Trainer of Tiukaki radar, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Tuiaki Radar last raced at Grafton on 16 January 2018. Mr Adcock stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a change of kennel.

Mav and I've Got Bills collided soon after the start.  Cailah Rose and Dozer Gold collided soon after the start.  Cailah Rose, Tuiaki Radar, Gotta RUsh and Dozer Gold collided soon after the start.  Tuiaki Radar, Cailah Rose and Dozer Gold collided approaching the 250m mark and again at the 200m mark.  Dynamite Dozer and Emerley Mee Too collided at the 200m mark.  Dozer Gold and Cailah Rose collided at the 200m mark.  Emerley Mee Too checked off I've Got Bills approaching the 150m mark severely checking I've Got Bills causing I've Got Bills to lose ground as a result, also causing Emerley Mee Too to fall and hit the running rail, causing Gotta Rush to check off I've Got Bills.

I've Got Bills was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Emerley Mee Too was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right monkey muscle and right biceps, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

MEETING CONDITIONS:

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to G Johnston, the trainer of Mayfair Miss regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Mayfair Miss last raced on 17 November 2017. G Johnston stated that the greyhound was seasonal.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Mayfair Miss trialled over the 300m from box 1, weight 27.6kgs, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.13, the was beaten by a margin of .73 lengths. Mayfair Miss was cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results - Glacier Boy trialled over the 350m from box 1, weight 31.6kgs, the greyhound was placed 3rd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 21.17, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 15 3/4 lengths. Glacier Boy was not cleared.
