Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Happy Tails.
Eddie Eagle was slow to begin.
Eddie Eagle crossed to the rail approaching the second turn checking Joycee Run. Eddie Eagle lost considerable ground from turning off the back straight and tailed off.
Eddie Eagle was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left back muscle injury. A stand down period of 7 days was imposed. Stewards queried Trainer Sheldon Hamilton regarding the performance of Eddie Eagle in this event. Mr Hamilton explained that Eddie Eagle had been training and also trailed over similar distances to today's run and in his opinion was adequately conditioned to compete in the event. Mr Hamilton further added that he has stepped the greyhound up in distance since returning from a similar injury. Stewards noted the explanation.
