Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Riccarton.
Just Blacky was slow to begin. Tricky Trey, Riccarton, Ima Reality and Birkenhead collided soon after the start, checking Riccarton and Ima Reality. Tricky Trey and Just Blacky collided on the first turn. In Dee Genes galloped on Knew It on the first turn. Knew It eased approaching the home turn. In Dee Genes and Riccarton collided on the home turn. Just Blacky and Ima Reality collided entering the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Brown, the handler of the greyhound Knew It, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Knew It was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg calf injury, a five day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Knew It with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Brown pleaded not guilty to the charge, Knew It was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
