Stewards spoke to Ms Natalie Perkins, the trainer of Maximum Lass, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Maximum Lass last raced on 15 December 2017. Ms Perkins stated that the greyhound had changed kennels. Ms Perkins also declared a new weight of 30.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Maximum Lass last raced at 28.4kg.

Stewards spoke to Mr David Willcocks, the trainer of Ice Cold Yug, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Ice Cold Yug last raced on 6 December 2017. Ms Willcocks stated that the greyhound had been spelled. Mr Willcocks also declared a new weight of 33.7kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Ice Cold Yug last raced at 32.1kg.

Mr Ronald Martin, trainer of Hardaway Zoe, declared a new weight of 28.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Hardaway Zoe last raced at 30.3kg.

New Fire Girl and Gunmetal Liam were slow to begin.

Winlock Homes crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Hardaway Zoe and Cersei. New Fire Girl crossed to the outide soon after the start, checking Gunmetal Liam. Maximum Lass and Cersei collided at the 250m mark, checking Cersei and New Fire Girl. New Fire Girl and Cersei collided several times at the 200m mark. The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Poise and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 11:41AM due to weight variation (GAR 39). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr Matt Johnson was fined the sum of $100.

Silver Dollar was slow to begin.

Blackhawk Dee, Waltz On Bye, Delaware County and Red Queen collided soon after the start. Silver Dollar crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Joanie's Johnny and Blackhawk Dee. Silver Dollar and Delaware County collided approaching the 250m mark. Joanie's Johnny and Merl's Michu collided at the 50m mark, severely checking Joanie's Johnny. Silver Dollar and Delaware County collided at the 50m mark and again approaching the winning post.

Jaggered Stone crossed to the outside soon after the start. Jaggered Stone checked off Wolf Point at the 300m mark. Steel Magnetic and Semantic Shift collided approaching the 250m mark. Cozi Fitz and Steel Magnetic collided at the 250m mark. Steel Magnetic and Semantic Shift collided at the 150m mark. Macauliff eased approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Ray Keating, the kennel representative for the greyhound Macauliff, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Macauliff was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left quadriceps muscle, a seven-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Macauliff with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Keating pleaded guilty to the charge, Macauliff was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Bless 'Em All and Sir Fancy were slow to begin. Mate, Bless 'Em All and Sir Fancy collided soon after the start, checking Mate. Mate and Bless 'Em All collided at the 100m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr Jason Reddoch (Dozer Gold) and issued him with a severe reprimand regarding his negligence in failing to wear the correct numbered parade bib for this event as per GAR86(o).  Stewards spoke to the other raceday officials involved in this incident and have referred the matter to their relevant Managers.

Stewards also spoke to Mr Dawson and issued a warning regarding his late arrival to the track pursuant to GAR31.

The start time for this race was delayed by four minutes and 20 seconds due to operational matters.

Dex's Affair and Lucky Paws were slow to begin.

She Loves Me, All You Got and Superior Martini collided soon after the start. She Loves Me and Superior Martini collided approaching the 150m mark, severely checking She Loves Me. Eggeb Mai checked off the heels of All You Got approaching the 150m mark, severely checking Dex's Affair, and Eggeb Mai which stumbled as a result. Eggeb Mai was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained split webbing on the left front paw and an injury to the right deltoid muscle. A 28-day stand down period was imposed.

She Loves Me was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.

Stewards spoke to Mr Joseph Abela, the trainer of Arashundi, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Arashundi last raced on 10 December 2017. Mr Abela stated that the greyhound had sustained an injury to the right gracilis (back) muscle.

Hey Shaza Fozz and Unique Olivia collided soon after the start. Spot My Key and Sports Knight collided soon after the start. Unique Olivia and Spot My Key collided at the 100m mark.

MEETING COMMENTS

Stewards today concluded an Inquiry in relation to an incident which took place in the stir-up yard at the Healesville meeting on 11 March 2018.  After taking further evidence from trainer Mr Jason Reddoch, Stewards reminded licensed person Kathleen Newport of her responsibilities in that she must seek approval from the trainer before engaging a third party to handle a greyhound without the knowledge of said trainer, pursuant to GAR86(o). Stewards also advised Mr Reddoch that if he has any concerns regarding the handling of his greyhounds, that he report the matter to the Stewards.

Satisfactory Trial Results (Blinkers) - Urzael Harbinger trialled over the 300m from box two, weight 25.9kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.40, the greyhound won by a margin of 1L. Urzael Harbinger was cleared to race in blinkers.

Satisfactory Trial Results (Blinkers) - Janray Spot trialled over the 300m from box one, weight 27.0kg, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.40, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 1L. Janray Spot was cleared to race in blinkers.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Beast trialled over the 350m from box eight, weight 39.5kg, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four. The time of the trial was 19.99, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.75L. Beast was cleared.
