Track Curator Mr B. Mulligan advised stewards that the track was medium harrowed on Monday 5 February 2018.

Kennels were due to open at 9:37AM in accordance with the GRV Heat Affected Meeting policy, however due to a delay in the arrival of the Club Veterinarian, kennels opened at 9:52AM.

This meeting was declared heat affected. Stewards dispensed the hot weather policy as the temperature did not exceed 26 degrees throughout the race meeting.  

Misload and Doran's Flame collided soon after the start. Springinator, Mrs. Hardwicke and Poise collided soon after the start. Springinator raced wide at the 200m mark, checking Poise and Misload. Mrs. Hardwicke and Misload collided approaching the 150m mark, checking both greyhounds. Chloe Crumpet galloped on Mrs. Hardwicke approaching the 150m mark and crossed to the outside, checking Mrs. Hardwicke. Poise crossed to the rail at the 100m mark, checking Misload. Doran's Flame and Beard Com collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth Markham, the trainer of Sopha Gem, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Sopha Gem last raced on 7 November 2017. Mr Markham stated that the greyhound had been spelling.

Cullquin Daairo and Penny Rocks were slow to begin. Here Comes Tom and Tinker Buzz collided soon after the start. Cullquin Daario and Penny Rocks collided soon after the start. Sopha Gem and Mirror Max collided soon after the start. Penny Rocks checked off Cullquin Daario at the 300m mark and crossed to the rail. Sopha Gem and Mirror Max collided at the 300m mark. Here Comes Tom and Tinker Buzz collided at the 250m mark. Cullquin Morgan and Sopha Gem collided at the 50m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth Markham, the trainer of San Andreas, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. San Andreas last raced on 17 October 2017. Mr Markham stated that the greyhound had changed kennels.

Trapezius was slow to begin.

Triceps Brachii and Caidan Marlo collided soon after the start and again at the 250m mark.

Just Audrey was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right long head triceps (monkey) and left sartorius (pencil) muscles. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.

Funda Down was a late scratching at 10:40AM on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to dehydration and an elevated temperature. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Miss Booming.

Urana Vee Eight and Unleash Bolly were slow to begin.

Unleash Bolly and Miss Booming collided soon after the start. Urana Vee Eight crossed to the outside soon after the start. Kev's Choice, Maximum Joan and It Is Done collided at the 300m mark. Unleash Bolly and Miss Booming collided at the 300m mark. Unleash Bolly checked off Miss Booming at the 250m mark. Maximum Joan and Miss Booming collided approaching the 150m mark. Maximum Joan, It Is Done and Kev's Choice collided approaching the 150m mark. Miss Booming checked off Maximum Joan approaching the 100m mark. Kev's Choice galloped on Miss Booming approaching the 50m mark. It Is Done and Miss Booming collided several times from approaching the 50m mark to approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Grant Walker, the trainer of Goodnight Irene, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Goodnight Irene last raced on 29 September 2017. Mr Walker stated that the greyhound had been spelling.

Stewards spoke to Mr Michael Fothergill, the representative of Silver Banjo, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Silver Banjo last raced on 8 November 2017. Mr Fothergill stated that the greyhound had been on season.

Silver Banjo was a late scratching at 12:26PM on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a carpal sprain of the left wrist. A 14-day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Silver Banjo prior to the scratching of the greyhound.

Mini Tron and Smudger Smiff collided soon after the start. Gotta Cheer Up and Dyna Peanut collided at the 300m mark.

Dragon's Den lost ground over the concluding stages. 

Dragon's Den was vetted and revetted following event eight. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Subscapularis, Early Spring, Spot My Key and Hypnotic Trance were slow to begin.

My Fernando Tim and Dynamite Dozer collided approaching the 250m mark, checking Hypnotic Trance. Early Spring and Spot My Key collided at the 150m mark and again at the 100m mark, checking Early Spring. Hypnotic Trance checked off My Fernando Tim approaching the winning post.

A pre-race sample was taken from Road To Nhill.

Roman Around and Jungle Jacqui were slow to begin.

Jungle Jacqui crossed to the rail at the 300m mark.

Stewards spoke to licenced catcher, Ms Tyllah Cornell, for failing to arrange a catcher for the greyhound Roman Around. Stewards took into account Ms Cornell's explanation and that it was her first offence, and issued a reminder of her responsibilities in regard to GAR 86(o).

Groucho was a late scratching at 1:17PM on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a shoulder muscle injury. A five-day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Early King.

Supraspinatus and Pergamon were slow to begin.

Pergamon crossed to the outside soon after the start. Marlow's Express crossed to the rail soon after the start.

Mr Kenneth Markham, trainer of Runs With Wolves, declared a new weight of 34.0kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Runs With Wolves last raced at 32.7kg.

A pre-race sample was taken from She Loves Me.

Sure Load and Runs With Wolves were slow to begin.

Sure Load checked off Allen Ernie at the 150m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr Trevor Gottsche, the trainer of Bubsy John, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Bubsy John last raced on 10 September 2017. Mr Gottsche stated that the greyhound had sustained an ear infection.

Just Blacky and Longshot Glory collided at the 250m mark. Here's Tiger checked off Just Blacky approaching the 200m mark. Just Blacky and Dreamtime Vision collided at the 200m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr Peter Goold, the trainer of Addictive Bryce, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Addictive Bryce last raced on 17 September 2017. Mr Goold stated that the greyhound had been spelling.

World's On Fire raced wide soon after the start and collided with Tzar Norma. Azza crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Oaklands. Fearless Flyer and Oaklands collided at the 300m mark and again at the 250m  mark. Shifty Joshua crossed to the outside at the 250mtr mark and raced wide throughout the event.  Fearless Flyer, Oaklands and Addictive Bryce collided approaching the 200m mark, checking all three greyhounds. Oaklands and Addictive Bryce collided at the 150m mark. Shifty Joshua lost ground from the 150mtr mark. Fearless Flyer and My Wrecker collided at the 100m mark. Oaklands checked off My Wrecker approaching the winning post.

Azza was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right long head triceps (monkey) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Shifty Joshua was vetted and revetted following event twelve. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No veterinary stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Gregory McLachlan, the trainer of the greyhound Shifty Joshua. Stewards deemed the performance of Shifty Joshua unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, directed that Shifty Joshua must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
