Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Matthews, the trainer of Janray Squawker regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Janray Squawker last raced on 13 October 2017 and is returning after a spell.

Don's Gas was slow to begin. Tiaro Jo, Miss Lana Bear and Wolf's Nightcall collided soon after the start checking Tiaro Jo and Wolf's Nightcall. Tiaro Jo checked off Wolf's Nightcall approaching the 250mtr mark and crossed to the outside. Awesome Cruising and Don's Gas collided approaching the 250mtr mark. Wolf's Nightcall checked off Miss Lana Bear at the 250mtr mark checking Miss Lana Bear. Awesome Cruising lost ground at the 150mtr mark. 

Awesome Cruising was vetted following the event and after being revetted following event 4 it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right triangle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. 

Stewards issued a warning to Mr. J. Mangion, the trainer of Awesome Cruising regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 150mtr mark.

Way Things Are was a late scratching at 10:42am due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24). A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Neb's Shark, Neb's Horse and Elke's Osti were slow to begin. Ace Cruising, Neb's Horse and Misload collided soon after the start checking Neb's Horse. Neb's Horse and Elke's Osti collided at the 250mtr mark. Ace Cruising and Neb's Horse collided approaching the 200mtr mark. Neb's Horse checked off Elke's Osti at the 200mtr mark. Misload checked off She Loves Me at the 150mtr mark. Ace Cruising and Neb's Horse collided approaching the 100mtr mark. Holiday Dancer raced wide throughout the event. 

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Mirror Max engaged in this event on Thursday 1 February 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Coyote was slow to begin. Mirror Max, Pharoah's Dream, Octo Flash, Triceps Brachii, Coyote and Dapper Diesel collided soon after the start checking Coyote and Dapper Diesel. Mirror Max and Pharoah's Dream collided at the 300mtr mark. Banana Bubblegum crossed to the rail at the 250mtr mark and collided with Mirror Max and Triceps Brachii. Coyote raced wide at the 250mtr mark checking Pharoah's Dream, Octo Flash and Dapper Diesel. Octo Flash and Dapper Diesel collided approaching the 150mtr mark. Mirror Max, Pharoah's Dream and Octo Flash collided at the 150mtr mark. 

Bad Boloney and Ann Cherie collided soon after the start. Go Zippy Go raced wide approaching the 300mtr mark. Vincent Benedict and Ann Cherie collided at the 150mtr mark.

A pre-race sample was taken from Trapezius.

Azure Dragon was slow to begin. Bushman's Legend and Dark Star collided soon after the start. Bottoms Up and Toffee Lady collided at the 300mtr mark. Azure Dragon checked off Dark Star at the 300mtr mark and crossed to the outside. Bottoms Up and Dark Star collided at the 200mtr mark and again approaching the 150mtr mark checking Bottoms Up which stumbled. Bushman's Legend and Shimmy Dat Ray collided at the 100mtr mark. Bushman's Legend and Monoak collided approaching the winning post.

Bottoms Up was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right deltoid and right fibula, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Dozer Gold.

Early Thunder and Booming Zulus collided at the 250mtr mark. Booming Zulus and My Lil' Angel collided at the 200mtr mark. Spot My Key, Booming Zulus and My Lil' Angel collided approaching the winning post.

My Lil' Angel was vetted after the greyhound fell entering the catching pen. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left thigh, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. 

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Daintree Prinz and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 10:24am due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. R. Matthews was fined the sum of $100.

Maximum Tess was a late scratching at 1:05pm due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24). A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Miss Premier and Maximum Booming were slow to begin. Rhomboid and It Is Done collided soon after the start. Rhomboid raced wide approaching the 250mtr mark checking It Is Done. 

Pergamon and Lilty Allen collide at the 300mtr mark. Aruma Girl and Pergamon collided at the 250mtr mark checking Aruma Girl, Pergamon and Lilty Allen. 

Stewards spoke to licensed Catcher, Ms Tamara Cornell and registered Trainer, Ms Rebecca Romyn, following the failure of greyhound, Freak Unleashed, being caught in this event.  After taking evidence from both Ms Cornell and Ms Romyn, Stewards charged Ms Cornell pursuant to GAR 86(o) for negligently failing to catch the greyhound at the conclusion of the event.   Ms. Cornell pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended for three months, effective midnight 2 February 2018.  In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Ms Cornell's guilty plea, general and specific detterence and her previous history for relevant offenses.

Don's Bobcat was a late scratching at 7:31am due to a toe injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Lucky Paws was a late scratching at 10:27am on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Ms. V. Watson, trainer of Whacker Fancy declared a new weight of 26.7 for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Whacker Fancy last raced at 25.3.

Hardy's Banjo and Whacker Fancy collided at the 250mtr mark and again at the 200mtr mark. Sheza Dragon and Here's Tiger collided at the 150mtr mark and again at the 50mtr mark. Daintree Lilli and Jack's Alouette collided approaching the winning post. 

Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms V. Watson regarding her difficulty in boxing the greyhound Whacker Fancy.  Stewards directed that Whacker Fancy be boxed first in future events.

Folding Green was a late scratching at 8:14am due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Stewards spoke to Mr. S. Kruckel, the representative of Dreamtime Vision regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Dreamtime Vision last raced on 14 October 2017 and is returning after a change of trainer.

Big Boy Buzz and Kathy's Lady collided at the 250mtr mark. From The Shadows checked off Tippa Power approaching the 200mtr mark. Scooby Boy and Tippa Power collided at the 100mtr mark. 

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Redefined engaged in this event on Wednesday 31 January 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.

A pre-race sample was taken from Glen Mika. 

Glen Mika was slow to begin. Thank Me Later and Boston You Essay collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Gone Early and Fiery Nell collided soon after the start. Thank Me Later and Glen Mika collided at the 250mtr mark checking both greyhounds. Platinum Osti, Gone Early and Redefined collided at the 250mtr mark. Gone Early and Redefined collided approaching the 100mtr mark and again at the 100mtr mark. Redefined checked off Gone Early approaching the winning post. 

Meeting Comments:

Satisfactory Weight Trial - Acquire trialled over the 350m from box 4, weight 30.5. The greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 2. The time of the trial was 19.80, the greyhound won by a margin of 4.5 lengths. Acquire was Cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results - Last Outlaw trialled over the 350m from box 5, weight 31.3, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 5. The time of the trial was 19.50, the greyhound won by a margin of 4.25 lengths. Last Outlaw was Cleared.
