In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, the Shepparton (Twilight) Meeting for Thursday 22 February was marked as 'Hot Weather Affected' due to the forecasted temperature of 32 degrees.  At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 27.6 degrees (with a forecasted top of 28.0) and the kennel temperature was 18.4 degrees  Consequently, Stewards, in accordance with Section 31 of the Hot Weather Policy, dispensed with the additional race meeting requirements.

Stewards spoke to Mr Ronald Wilkinson, the representative of Windy Lane, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Windy Lane last raced on 10 November 2017.  Mr Wilkinson stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a seasonal spell.

Macs Model and Movie Icon were quick to begin.  Marley Moo and Keisha's Boy were slow to begin.  Kraken Pace and Windy Lane collided soon after the start, checking Kraken Pace.  Kraken Pace, Winlock Homes and Marley Moo collided on the first turn, checking Kraken Pace.  Movie Icon crossed to the rail approaching the home turn, checking Macs Model, and severely checking Windy Lane.  Winlock Homes and Macs Model collided approaching the home turn, causing Winlock Homes to stumble, and severely checking Macs Model and Marley Moo.  Windy Lane and Macs Model collided on the home turn, checking Macs Model.

Windy Lane was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a minor spike wound to the right hindleg toe.  No stand down period was imposed.

Macs Model was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Marley Moo was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr Barry Mills, the trainer of Limping Miss, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Limping Miss last raced on 21 November 2017.  Mr Mills stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following an extended spell.

Amy Amour and Dragonstone were slow to begin.  Lara's Double and Spicy Blast collided soon after the start, checking Spicy Blast.  Amy Amour, Miss Oreo Mac, Lara's Double and Fairytale Ending collided approaching the first turn, checking Amy Amour.  Fairytale Ending crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Miss Oreo Mac, Lara's Double and Amy Amour.  Scott A Secret checked off Spicy Blast in the home straight.

Scott A Secret was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a pelvic injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Crackerjack Tags was quick to begin.  Damaging Lomar and Joffa's Mate were slow to begin.  Swell It Is crossed to the inside approaching the first turn, checking King Of Merrimu, Moonbeam and Calabrese Bullet.  King Of Merrimu, Moonbeam and Calabrese Bullet collided approaching the first turn, checking Calabrese Bullet.  Dominant Lomar and Swell It Is collided on the first turn, checking Dominant Lomar.  Damaging Lomar and Moonbeam collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.  Damaging Lomar and Joffa's Mate collided entering the home straight, checking Moonbeam.

This event was delayed slightly, due to a Shepparton harness event.

All Inn Baz was slow to begin.  Speedway Lass, Umar Allen and Searching collided approaching the first turn, checking Speedway Lass and Umar Allen.  Avatar Sparkle and Speedway Lass collided on the first turn, checking Speedway Lass and Umar Allen.  Avatar Sparkle, Speedway Lass, Umar Allen and All Inn Baz collided approaching the home turn, checking All Inn Baz and Umar Allen, and causing Speedway Lass to fall.  All Inn Mishap and Umar Allen collided approaching the home turn, checking Umar Allen.

Speedway Lass was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Avatar Sparkle was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration to the right hindleg toe, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Phillip Clark, the trainer of Mikey Wires, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Mikey Wires last raced on 27 September 2017.  Mr Clark stated that the grehound has been recovering from a left hock fracture.

Run Ronnie Run and Talbragar River collided soon after the start.  Ring London and Storm Train collided soon after the start, checking Storm Train.  Talbragar River and Geopark Ruby collided on the first turn, checking Geopark Ruby.  Proven Snow checked off Run Ronnie Run approaching the home turn.  Storm Train, Geopark Ruby and Ring London collided on the home turn, checking Ring London.  Proven Snow and Mikey Wires collided on the home turn, checking Proven Snow.  Proven Snow and Geopark Ruby collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight, severely checking both greyhounds.  Ring London raced wide in the home straight.

This event was slightly delayed due to a Townsville thoroughbred race.

Rido's Ace and Shining Opal collided several times approaching the first turn, checking Shining Opal.  Bar King Buddy and Twilight Liason collided approaching the first turn, checking Twilight Liason.  Twilight Liason checked off Bar King Buddy approaching the first turn.  Rido's Ace crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Bar King Buddy and Twilight Liason.  True Colours checked off Bound After Gold approaching the home turn.  Rido's Ace checked off True Colours on the home turn.

Tat Odin was slow to begin.  Glen Mika crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Ha Ha Gotcha and Stylish Chief.  Stylish Chief, Ha Ha Gotcha and Ruby Cabang collided approaching the first turn, checking Ha Ha Gotcha and Tat Odin.  Ruby Cabang checked off Stylish Chief on the first turn and in the home straight.

Prior to the Event, Stewards spoke to Mr P Ward, Trainer of Zabdon Ferrari, regarding anonymous information which had been received by GRV.  Mr Ward stated that he was 100% confident that he was presenting Zabdon Ferrari free of any prohibited substances. 

The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 5:57 pm, to allow for remedial works to the outside fence approximately 30 metres in front of the 450 boxes) which had been damaged by tractor between races.

Zabdon Ferrari was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg torn dew claw nail, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

A post-race blood sample was taken from Zabdon Ferrari - unplaced in the event.

The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 6:12 pm.

Hartley Matt and Broadway Belle were slow to begin.  Cyrus Rumble and Clovalley Mauri collided soon after the start, checking Clovalley Mauri.  Broadway Belle checked off Zip Zip Anna approaching the first turn, checking Clovalley Mauri.  Sneak Preview and Scott Lit Up collided approaching the home turn, checking Scott Lit Up.  Zip Zip Anna and Cyrus Rumble collided in the home straight, checking Cyrus Rumble.

Arrow Allen was a late scratching at 2:27 pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, due to dehydration.  A three day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Ms D White, representing Trainer Mr K Mitchell, regarding the circustances surrounding the transportation of Arrow Allen to Shepparton today from its Parwan kennels.  An inquiry has been adjourned.

Minka's Destiny and Proven Chat were quick to begin.  Gotta Be Better and Our Turbo Girl were slow to begin.  Dashing Diamond checked off Midnight Flynn on the first turn.  Our Turbo Girl checked off Gotta Be Better entering the home straight.  Minka's Destiny and Gotta Be Better collided in the home straight, checking Gotta Be Better.

Mystic Marlow, Brienne and Cloverlay collided approaching the first turn, checking Mystic Marlow and Brienne.  Brienne and Showtime Mystery collided on the first turn, checking Showtime Mystery.  Mystic Marlow checked off Senor Asher on the first turn.  Mystic Marlow and Brienne collided entering the home straight, checking Mystic Marlow.  Mystic Marlow checked off Senor Asher entering the home straight.  Alannah's Gem and On Billy's Wings raced wide in the home straight.

Miss Barbados was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg back muscle injury, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Simonic Drive trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 26.0 kgs, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of eight.  The time of the trial was 22:55, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.75 lengths.  Simonic Drive was Cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results - Crash Cobra trialled over the 390m from box three, weight 36.6 kgs, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four.  The time of the trial was 22:10, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 1.25 lengths.  Crash Cobra was Cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results - Angel's Halo trialled over the 390m from box four, weight 27.3 kgs, the greyhound was placed third in a field of four.  The time of the trial was 22:10, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.5 lengths.  Angels Halo was Cleared. 

Satisfactory Trial Results - Duce Royal trialled over the 390m from box five, weight 31.4 kgs, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four.  The time of the trial was 22:10, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.25 lengths.  Duce Royal was Cleared.
