A trial of the GRV-endorsed ISO-LYNX real-time tracking system was conducted throughout today's racing program. All race rugs used today were fitted with a location tracking beacon as part of this trial.

Persian Oasis, Go Ee Kay and Power To Wyn were slow to begin.

Power To Wyn was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left pectoral (chest) muscle and abrasions above the right stopper. A five-day stand down period was imposed.

Slingshot Hammer was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.

Janali was quick to begin. Meyentay, Striking Weetbix and Star Of Magic were slow to begin.

Aeroplane Indy, Fire Water, Limburg Sprite, Militant Magic, Star Hunter and Galloping Flash collided on the first turn, checking Militant Magic, Galloping Flash, Limburg Sprite and Star Hunter; Limburg Sprite and Star Hunter raced wide as a result. Militant Magic and Galloping Flash collided approaching the second turn, checking Galloping Flash and Limburg Sprite. Gehrig, Militant Magic and Fire Water collided on the third turn, checking Militant Magic and Fire Water. Fire Water contacted the running rail approaching the home turn and again on the home turn. Fire Water was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left shoulder muscle. A five-day stand down period was imposed.

GRV Stewards inquired into the late scratching of Looking Down from this race. Looking Down was withdrawn by trainer Mr Raymond Henness at 7.51pm on Tuesday 20 February 2018, due to injury. Scratching's for this meeting closed at 4.00pm on Tuesday 20 February 2018. After taking evidence from Mr Henness, GRV Stewards issued a charge under GAR 23 (1) (b) in that Mr Henness failed to make an application to withdraw Looking Down prior to the appointed scratching time of 4.00pm on Tuesday 20 February, when the injury was known to Mr Henness prior to this time. Mr Henness pleaded not guilty to the charge. Mr Henness was found guilty of the charge. Mr Henness was fined $200. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration Mr Henness good record, his personnel antecedence and the forthright manner in which he conducted himself before the Stewards. Against these factors, the stewards considered the need for general deterrence, previous penalties for like offences and the circumstances of them, that a reserve was therefore denied a start in this race and why the application to scratch Looking Down was not made in time.

Stewards spoke to handlers Mr Alfred Vella and Ms Carole Brinsley, about the handling of the greyhounds Dyna Sarah and Dyna Adria pre-race. The Stewards re-enforced the provisions of GAR 27 to both handlers. Given the minor nature of the incident, a caution was issued to both persons.
