Stewards spoke to Ms Leanne Shingles, the kennel representative for Ziggy Punter, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Ziggy Punter last raced on 8 September 2017. Ms Shingles stated that the greyhound had sustained a left long head triceps (monkey) muscle injury.
Ziggy Punter, Trap Queen, Last Outlaw and Sleeping Slick collided soon after the start, checking Trap Queen. Ziggy Punter and Sleeping Slick collided approaching the 250m mark. Cosmic Breeze and Trap Queen collided at the 250m mark, checking Trap Queen. Sleeping Slick checked off Ziggy Punter approaching the 200m mark. Early Storm and Bera Na Liva collided at the 150m mark. Cosmic Breeze checked off Sleeping Slick at the 100m mark. Early Storm checked off Bera Na Liva approaching the winning post, colliding with Ziggy Punter.
