Steward's Report
Blue Irish was slow to begin.
Maggie Mikado crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Elle's Toy. Bear Left checked off Blue Irish approaching the 250m mark. Elle's Toy checked off Golden Gem at the 250m mark. Blue Irish eased approaching the 150m mark. Cosmic Buzzard checked off Senor Ollie at the 150m mark, checking Cosmic Buzzard.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Clay, the kennel representative for the greyhound Blue Irish, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the 150m mark. Blue Irish was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right gastrocnemius (calf) muscle, a five-day veterinary stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Blue Irish with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Clay pleaded guilty to the charge, Blue Irish was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
