Love Laughing was slow to begin. Moon Phase, Mr. Automatic and Miss Oreo Mac collided soon after the start, checking Moon Phase. Scott A Secret, Miss Oreo Mac and Love Laughing collided approaching the first turn, checking Love Laughing. Mr. Automatic, Moon Phase and Mister Peanuts collided approaching the first turn, checking Moon Phase and Mister Peanuts. Moon Phase checked off Mister Peanuts on the first turn, causing Moon Phase to fall. Saintly Jack checked off Love Laughing on the home turn, checking Mister Peanuts. Mister Peanuts and Miss Oreo Mac collided entering the home straight. Mister Peanuts marred the running of Saintly Jack in the home straight.
Moon Phase was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to both shoulders, and a laceration to the face, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Ms. J. Fothergill, the trainer of the greyhound Mister Peanuts regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Mister Peanuts with marring. Ms. Fothergill pleaded guilty to the charge, Mister Peanuts was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Re-Vetted Greyhound - Set To Storm was presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling and was Cleared to race.
