Steward's Report
Alabama Lane was a late scratching at 5:30pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A ten day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr. J. Donaldson was fined the sum of $100.
Mr. C. Morris-Flynn, trainer of Zippy Hazel, declared a new weight of 24.7kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Zipping Hazel last raced at 26.1kgs.
Smoke Signals was slow to begin. All Inn Swift raced wide and eased approaching the first turn and tailed off as a result. Rockin'Roz and Bushman's Billy collided on the first turn checking Bushman's Billy. Golden Aura and Winlock Eleven collided on the first turn. Smoke Signals and Bushman's Billy collided approaching the home turn.
All Inn Swift was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 6, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Van Taarling, the trainer of the greyhound All Inn Swift regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged All Inn Swift with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Van Taarling pleaded guilty to the charge. All Inn Swift was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
