The Club veterinary Surgeon examined Oriental Rhys and no illness was detected.  The greyhound was a late scratching at 5:25pm due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer Mr. I. Anderson was fined the sum of $100.

Misload was quick to begin.  Leica Diva and Sandtrack Sniper were slow to begin.  Double The Power and Leica Diva collided on the first turn severely checking Leica Diva causing Double The Power to gallop on Toffee Lady checking Double The Power.  Misload and Mother Monster collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.  Double The Power and Mother Monster collided several times approaching the winning post.

Forseen, Where's Lachie and Doble Estandar were slow to begin.  Zipping Todd checked off Zipping Brandy approaching the first turn.  Forseen checked off Where's Lachie on the first turn checking Sapphire Power and severely checking Forseen and Acer.  Traveller and Sapphire Power collided on the home turn.

Aston Ciobo was a late scratching at 5:20pm on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon due to injury.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

She's Our Poppy and Dyna Carver were quick to begin.  Ava's Dream crossed in soon after the start checking Joyous Jill, Dyna Carver, Waltz On Bye and Ava's Dream.  She's Our Poppy and Custom Mint collided soon after the start.  Custom Mint and Dyna Carver collided approaching the first turn checking Custom Mint.  Custom Mint and Joyous Jill collided on the first turn checking Custom Mint.  Waltz On Bye checked off Surgical Wally on the first turn.  Joyous Jill and She's Our Poppy collided on the home turn.

She's Our Poppy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound was found to have muscle soreness in the left and right shoulder, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Custom Mint was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Ms. K. Houlahan regarding her difficulty in boxing the greyhound Waltz On Bye.  Stewards directed that Waltz On Bye be boxed first in future events.

Mr. J. Lindrea, trainer of Gully Fever declared a new weight of 32.1kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Gully Fever last raced at 33.6kgs.

Mr. B. Harper, trainer of Omega Bonner declared a new weight of 35.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Omega Bonner last raced at 33.4kgs.

Aston Grace was a late scratching at 5:36 on Veterinary advice (GAR 37)(fleas).  No stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate of clearance, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Real Obsession was a late scratching at 5:23pm on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon due to illness (elevated temp).  A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. D. Johnston, the trainer of Velocity Whisper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Velocity Whisper last raced on 13th August, 2017.  Mrs Johnston stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after being on season.

Mr. I. Anderson, trainer of Where's Marcia declared a new weight of 25.9kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Where's Marcia last raced at 27.8kgs.

Rosie Glenda and Velocity Whisper were quick to begin.  Undercover Viv was slow to begin.  Where's Marcia checked off Velocity Whisper approaching the first turn.  Undercover Viv contacted the running rail approaching the first turn checking Undercover Viv.  Detroit Wally and Where's Marcia collided on the first turn checking Detroit Wally.  Velocity Whisper and One Way Ticket collided on the home turn.

Undercover Viv was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an abrasion and bruising to the left hind and a spike wound to the left hind foot, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Azure Dragon, Ninetymile Hawk and Stilton Buddy were slow to begin.  Fernando's Jewel contacted the running rail approaching the first turn severely checking Fernando's Jewel.  Azure Dragon and Stilton Buddy collided on the first turn checking Stilton Buddy.  Zipping Boyd and Racey Rose collided on the first turn checking Zipping Boyd.

Fernando's Jewel was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left thigh injury, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Jebreco Surprise, Vane Power and Loaded were slow to begin.  Hannah Bear and Emilia Magic collided on the first turn checking Emilia Magic.  Vane Power checked off Hannah Bear on the first turn.  Brindle Ninja faltered approaching the home turn.

Brindle Ninja was vetted and after being re vetted following event 11, it was reported that the greyhound sustained a neck injury and soreness in the left and right hip muscles, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to the trainer Mrs. M. Musselwhite, regarding the greyhound's racing action approaching the home turn, taking into account the injuries sustained by the greyhound in the event, stewards took no further action.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Track Report - Track Curator, Mr. G. Roberts advised stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on Wednesday, 10th January 2018.

Satisfactory Trial Results  (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr. L. Whelan, the representative of Lakeview Grace regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Lakeview Grace last raced on 30th June, 2017.  Mr. Whelan stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Lakeview Grace trialled over the 440m from box 8, weight 30.0kgs,  the greyhound was placed 4th in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 24.82,  the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 9.5 lengths.  Lakeview Grace was Cleared.
