Stewards spoke to Mr. G. James the trainer of Sure To Excite regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Sure To Excite last raced on 15/07/17. Mr. James stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right hock injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr. B. Sonneman the trainer of Suzy Nitro regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Suzy Nitro last raced on 14/07/17. Mr. Sonneman stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right hock injury. Mr. Sonneman declared a new weight of 27.9kg in accordance with GAR 39(2). Suzy Nitro last raced at 26.3kg.
A pre-race sample was taken from Challis Magic.
Winston Cruise and Suzy Nitro collided approaching the first turn. Shifty Joshua was checked off Sure To Excite on the first turn. Winston Cruise, Suzy Nitro and Challis Magic collided on the first turn severely checking Suzy Nitro and Ivey's Affair and checking Winston Cruise. Winston Cruise raced wide on the first turn checking Wadelock Mindy and Ivey's Affair, Ivey's Affair raced wide for the remainder of the event. Suzy Nitro and Shifty Joshua raced wide in the home straight.
Ivey's Affair was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a small cut on the left front foot, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.
