Captain Marvel and Shades Of Earl were slow to begin. Redda crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Macauliff, Etiquette and Mickey Rawson. Macauliff checked off Redda at the 300m mark. Redda and Inga Ted collided several times from the 300m mark until the 250m mark, checking Redda. Captain Marvel, Shades Of Earl, Redda and Inga Ted collided at the 150m mark. Shades Of Earl and Inga Ted collided at the 100m mark, checking Captain Marvel. Mickey Rawson and Macauliff collided approaching the 50m mark. Kilty Jewel raced wide throughout the event.
