Steward's Report
The start of this event was delayed approximately five minutes due to issues with the on track lights and holding for other races on Sky Channel.
Texas Rising, Fawn Pursuit and Gregorovitch collided soon after the start. Crazy Jo Jo and Night King collided approaching the first turn. Nymphadora Tonks and Gregorovitch collided approaching the first turn. Fawn Pursuit and Texas Rising collided approaching the first turn. Texas Rising checked off the heels of Nymphadora Tonks on the first turn. Nymphadora Tonks and Gregorovitch collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Texas Rising checked off the heels of Gregorovitch approaching the home turn. Gregorovitch and Nymphadora Tonks collided entering the home straight. Gregorovitch marred the running of Nymphadora Tonks in the home straight. Night King and Tiarna Keeping collided in the home straight.
Gregorovitch was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the left stopper. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Cockerell, the trainer of the greyhound Gregorovitch, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(1) Stewards charged Gregorovitch with marring. Mr Cockerell pleaded guilty to the charge, Gregorovitch was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
