A pre-race sample was taken from Poppy's Way.
Tru Blu Keats and Staunch As were slow to begin. Colonel was very slow to begin (3 lengths). Tru Blu Keats and Poppy's Way collided soon after the start. Terrigal Tornado, Georgie Porgi and Optima Semper collided approaching the first turn. Staunch As and Poppy's Way collided approaching the first turn checking Poppy's Way. Tru Blu Keats was checked off Georgie Porgi on the first turn. Galloping Tina and Georgie Porgi collided on the first turn. Staunch As galloped on Optima Semper on the first turn severely checking Poppy's Way which stumbled and tailed off, Optima Semper and Staunch As fell as a result. Georgie Porgi was checked off Terrigal Tornado approaching the second turn. Colonel was checked off Tru Blu Keats approaching the second turn checking Tru Blu Keats. Georgie Porgi was checked of Terrigal Tornado in the back straight. Colonel was checked off Georgie Porgi on the home turn. Georgie Porgie and Terrigal Tornado collided entering the home straight.
Georgie Porgie was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a split webbing on the right hind foot, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
