Mr S Cullen, the trainer of Britz, declared a new weight of 26.1kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Britz last raced at Bendigo on 19 July 2017 at 24.9 kg.

Black In Town and Get Shakin' were slow to begin.

Nancy's Delight and Jai Jai Away collided at the 250m mark. Britz checked off Jai Jai Away approaching the winning post.

A pre-race sample was taken from Pavarotti.

Bali Angel was slow to begin.

Premier Back and Janray Tootsie collided soon after the start and again at the 250m mark. Janray Flash and Pavarotti collided at the 50m mark. Premier Back eased approaching the winning post and looked outward. Osti's Raider and Pavarotti collided approaching the winning post.

Janray Flash was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left long head triceps (monkey) muscle, a left fore toe, both sesamoids and mild abrasions to the right fore foot. A 14-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. R. Mahttews regarding the greyhound's racing manner's approaching the winning post but due to the injury sustained, elected to take no further action.

Premier Back was vetted, and revetted following event four. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Brent Merton, the trainer of the greyhound Premier Back regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Premier Back with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Merton pleaded guilty to the charge, Premier Back was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to licenced catcher Mr Brayden Meachem and issued a warning in regard to his failure to provide a catcher for the greyhound Janray Tootsie (GAR49).

Stewards spoke Mr Gary Thorneycroft, the trainer of Silent Assault, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. The greyhound last raced on 9 May, 2017. Mr Thorneycroft stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a right hock injury.

Billy Swagger went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.

Flying Vulcan crossed to the outside soon after the start. Cullquin Jethro, Slow As Thunder and Shakey Cougar collided several times from the 100m mark to the winning post.

The Club's Veterinary Surgeon examined Roberts and no illness was detected. Roberts was a late scratching at 11.00am due to weight variation (-1.4 kg) (GAR 39), a ten-day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr Antonio Marraffa, was fined the sum of $100.

Hookhimo Fozzio and Bling Legacy collided soon after the start. Eagleeye Norris and Bling Legacy collided at the 300m mark.

Stewards spoke Mr Dale Batten, the trainer of Zipping Simmo, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. The greyhound last raced on 14 May, 2017. Mr Batten stated that he had taken over the training of the greyhound and was a change of kennels.  Mr Batten declared a new weight of 33.3 kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Zipping Simmo last raced at Healesville on 14 May 2017 at 34.7 kg.

Zipping Simmo, Vane Blue and Lido's Boy were slow to begin.

Addictive Bryce and Secretary Bird collided soon after the start. Secretary Bird and Ego Yar collided at the 150m mark. Vane Blue, Bev's Girl and Secretary Bird collided at the 100m mark.

Iona Whiteflash and Speed Alert were slow to begin.

Iona Whiteflash and Superior Swagger collided soon after the start. Like A Fancy, Ellen's Stardust and My Lil' Angel collided at the 250m mark, checking My Lil' Angel. My Lil' Angel checked off Like A Fancy approaching the 150m mark, checking Daisy Patch as a result. Superior Swagger checked off Adala Boy at the 150m mark. Ellen's Stardust and Adala Boy collided at the 100m mark, checking Ellen's Stardust.

Stewards spoke Mr Peter Reinders, the trainer of Kim Kadash, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. The greyhound last raced on 2 June, 2017. Mr Reinders advised that the greyhound was spelling as he had taken leave for a period.

Blazing Nitro, Kim Kadash and Assemble Nitro were slow to begin.

Assemble Nitro and Chrissy Pee collided at the 250m mark. Kim Kadash and Assemble Nitro collided at the 100m mark.

Sandave Cruise and Team Son were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.

Keep Talking crossed to the inside soon after the start, checking Sandave Cruise, Team Son and Showin' Attitude. Prime Suspect, Dozer Gold and Persuader collided soon after the start, checking Dozer Gold and Persuader. Sandave Cruise galloped on Newfire Drewie at the 150m mark. Sandave Cruise and Newfire Drewie collided at the 50m mark.

Miss Premier stumbled at box rise at box rise and was slow to begin.

Gidgee's Boss and Platinum Osti collided soon after the start. My Mate Wally and Steel Magnetic collided at the 100m mark.

Okay Alpha was a late scratching at 8.31am due to a back muscle injury (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

A pre-race sample was taken from Grooven Chris.

Yaala was quick to begin. Grooven Chris, Swift Spur, Still Just Under and Don's Machine were slow to begin.

Still Just Under and Don's Machine collided soon after the start. Don's Machine, Still Just Under and Swift Spur collided at the 250m mark. Yaala and Still Just Under collided several times between the 150m mark and the 50m mark.

Bubsy John and Swift Knockout were slow to begin and collided soon after the started.

Bubsy John and Grand Hero collided soon after the start. Jupiter Asending and Kev's Choice collided at the 275m mark. Grand Hero and Brave Innings collided at the 100m mark. Bubsy John and Swift Knockout collided approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to licenced catcher Ms Tamara Cornell in regard to her failure to catch the greyhound Kev's Choice after being engaged by Mrs Kerry Houlihan on behalf of trainer Mr Robert Johnson (GAR48). A $100 fine was issued to Ms Cornell.

A pre-race sample was taken from Silver Wood.

Booma Mikado and King Gibbo collided soon after the start. Silver Wood and King Gibbo collided approaching the 250m mark. Cool Milo checked off Tricky Trey at the 250m mark, checking King Gibbo as a result. Booma Mikado and Cool Milo collided at the 200m mark. Silver Wood and King Gibbo collided at the 150m mark. Booma Mikado and Cool Milo collided approaching the 100m mark.

A urine sample was unable to be obtained from Tricky Trey, the winner of the event, subsequently a blood sample was taken. 

MEETING COMMENTS

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Calven Russell, the trainer of Dicaprio, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Dicaprio last raced on 4 April 2016. Mr Russell stated that Dicaprio had changed kennels from interstate. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Dicaprio trialled over the 300m from box one, weight 30.9kg, the greyhound was placed fourth in a field of four. The time of the trial was 17.43, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 3.75L. Dicaprio was not cleared.
