Charley's Octaine and Octo Flash were slow to begin. Slow As Thunder crossed to the inside soon after the start, causing Octo Flash, Mister Pickles, Go Go Pipsqueak, Slow As Thunder and Prized to collide several times from soon after the start to the 250m mark. Charley's Octane checked off Go Go Pipsqueak at the 250m mark, checking Prized. Mister Pickles checked off Freddie Rawson at the 150m mark. Octo Flash checked off Slow As Thunder at the 100m mark.
