Stewards spoke to Ms Annette Kampman, the Trainer of Late Arrival, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Late Arrival last raced at Warrnambool on 5 May 2017.  Ms Kampman advised that the greyhound was returning to racing after sustaining soreness to both back muscles and the greyhound had subsequently been coursing.

Late Arrival was slow to begin.  Clowning Zems crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Parto's Digit checked off Clowning Zems at the 300m mark.

Charley's Octaine and Octo Flash were slow to begin.  Slow As Thunder crossed to the inside soon after the start, causing Octo Flash, Mister Pickles, Go Go Pipsqueak, Slow As Thunder and Prized to collide several times from soon after the start to the 250m mark.  Charley's Octane checked off Go Go Pipsqueak at the 250m mark, checking Prized.  Mister Pickles checked off Freddie Rawson at the 150m mark.  Octo Flash checked off Slow As Thunder at the 100m mark.

Tally Ho Lass was a late scratching at 9:57 am, due to reported sprung toes on right foot (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Wiggle Emma was slow to begin.  Little Kensi and Brave Innings collided soon after the start.  Wai Lin crossed to the inside soon after the start and collided with Heard A Rumour.  Wai Lin and Heard A Rumour collided at the 300m mark.  Wiggle Emma and Little Kensi collided several times from the 150m mark to the 50m mark.  Silver Trident and Heard A Rumour collided at the 150m mark.  Heard A Rumour checked off Silver Trident at the 100m mark.  Wiggle Emma checked off Milly's Choice approaching the winning post, checking Little Kensi.

Tally Ho Jack went up with the lids at box rise.  Fred Dagg and Scarlet's Secret collided soon after the start.  Belron Brum crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Fred Dagg checked off Scarlet's Secret at the 300m mark.  Chaddy Whacker and It Is Done collided at the 250m mark.  Chaddy Whacker and It Is Done collided at the 200m mark.  Fred Dagg and It Is Done collided several times from the 150m mark to the 50m mark.

Fred Dagg was vetted following the event and it was reported that the greyhound sustained lacerations just above the left eye.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed with a recommendation from Dr A Kalinowski, GRV Veterinary Surgeon, that the greyhound undergo further veterinary consultation within a 24 hour period.  Stewards investigated the matter subsequent to the event and established that Fred Dagg hit the lining of the boxes prior to start.  Stewards, together with the Starter, inspected the box prior to Race 5 and approved the box for use for the remainder of the program.

Stewards spoke to Ms Noreen Petts, the catcher of Splash Of Blue regarding her late arrival to catch the greyhound for this event.  Stewards charged Ms Petts with a breach of GAR 86(o), in that she failed to be at the catching pen at the conclusion of the event to catch the greyhound Splash Of Blue.  Ms Petts pleaded guilty to the charge.  Ms Petts was found guilty and fined the sum of $50.

Greysynd Alpha, Captain Zero and Banjo Snoopy collided soon after the start.  Jupiter Asending ad Slick Assassian collided approaching the 250m mark.  Slick Assassian checked off Goodnight Irene at the 250m mark.  Jupiter Asending and Slick Assassain collided several times from the 200m to approaching the 150m mark.  Slick Assassian checked off Jupiter Asending at the 150m mark.  Banjo Snoopy and Gammy's Choice collided at the 150m mark.  Banjo Snoopy checked off Goodnight Irene approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Brett Cook, the trainer of Harsh Miles, after the greyhound was not caught.  It was established that Mr Cook had arranged for Ms Tamara Cornell to catch Harsh Miles for the event.  Stewards took evidence from Ms Cornell and after considering the matter, have adjourned the Inquiry to speak to additional witnesses.

Stewards spoke to Mr John Mundy, representive of Trainer - Mr Simon Humphries, regarding the length of time Fiery Chieftain has had between races.  Fiery Chieftain last raced at Shepparton on 22 May 2017.  Mr Mundy advised that the greyhound was returning to racing after sustaining injuries to both wrists.
