A pre-race sample was taken from Premier Ching.
Home Runner and Keep Up were quick to begin. Premier Ching and Standing Bear were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.
Cosmic Kilby and Home Runner collided soon after the start. Mahlo Nacho checked off the heels of Cosmic Kilby soon after the start. Gunmetal Rebel checked off the heels of Cosmic Kilby on the first turn; Gunmetal Rebel stumbled and lost ground as a result. Premier Ching checked off the heels of Standing Bear on the first turn; Premier Ching stumbled and lost ground as a result. Mahlo Nacho checked off the heels of Cosmic Kilby approaching the home turn. Standing Bear and Cosmic Kilby collided on the home turn. Keep Up checked off the heels of Denied Justice in the home straight, checking Home Runner.
Gunmetal Rebel was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards issued a warning to Ms Jess Fothergirll, the kennel representative for Gunmetal Rebel, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the first turn. Further, the Stewards requested that Ms Fothergill to advise connections to advise Stewards forthwith, of any issues that are identified with Gunmetal Rebel in the coming days that may have affected today's performance, pursuant to GAR75.
Premier Ching was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right tensor fascia (triangle) muscle. A seven-day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Keep Up, the second place-getter in the event.
