Steward's Report
Vladimir Rose, Regas Baby and Zoobie were slow to begin. Khawaja, Lucas Rose, Aston Ando, Harry's Entity and Slingshot Jayla collided soon after the start and again on the first turn checking Lucas Rose, Slingshot Jayla and Aston Ando and severely checking Harry's Entity and Vladimir Rose, Regas Baby fell and Zoobie raced wide as a result. Khawaja eased entering the back straight checking Slingshot Jayla and Harry's Entity. Slingshot Jayla was checked off Harry's Entity on the second turn.
Regas Baby was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Khawaja was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent. Trainer Mr. P. Derubeis declined his option to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Derubeis the trainer of the greyhound Khawaja regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the back straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Khawaja with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Derubeis pleaded guilty to the charge, Khawaja was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Traralgon and it was directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
