A pre-race sample was taken from Run Rita Run.
Peggy Hook and Run Rita Run were quick to begin. Blackjack Neo was slow to begin. Straitline Willy, Trumpeter and Nicky Neo collided soon after the start. Straitline Willy and Trumpeter collided approaching the first turn. Nicky Neo was checked off Hello Bomber approaching the first turn. Nicky Neo and Blackjack Neo collided on the first turn checking Nicky Neo. Straitline Willy was checked off Run Rita Run approaching the second turn causing Straitline Willy to collided with Hello Bomber. Trumpeter faltered on the second turn and lost considerable ground. Blackjack Neo crossed out on the third turn and collided with Straitline Willy checking Hello Bomber. Blackjack Neo failed to pursue the lure on the third turn and collided several times with Straitline Willy causing both greyhounds to race wide. Nicky Neo crossed out on the third turn. Straitline Willy and Blackjack Neo collided several times approaching the home turn. Straitline Willy and Nicky Neo collided in the home straight.
Trumpeter was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained and injured right back muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Nicky Neo was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr. R. Neocleous the trainer of Nicky Neo regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the third turn.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Neocleous the trainer of the greyhound Blackjack Neo regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the third turn. Blackjack Neo was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following event 4, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right pencil muscle, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) the Stewards charged Blackjack Neo with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mr. Neocleous pleaded not guilty to the charge, Blackjack Neo was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
