Steward's Report

Stewards inspected the track on arrival on course and were satisfied that the track was suitable for racing, however they directed club staff to clean the boxes at the 400m start. On arrival at the boxes for Race 1 (400m), a number of trainers raised concerns with water on the track in front of the boxes. Stewards directed club staff to carry out remedial work on the track. After this was completed, Stewards were satisfied that the track was suitable for racing. As a result, all race times were delayed by one race, with Race 12 run at 7.09pm.

Little Big Chief was slow to begin.

Lektra Spark, Sight Screen, Nitro Heroine, Money Dud and Serendipity Gold collided soon after the start checking Nitro Heroine and Sight Screen.  Little Big Chief and Sight Screen collided on the first turn checking Little Big Chief.  Serendipity Gold and Money Dud collided on the first checking Serendipity Gold and Sight Screen.  Lord Flash Heart and Jello Allen collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn checking Lord Flash Heart.  Jello Allen veered out and collided with Lektra Spark in the home straight.  Little Big Chief and Jello Allen collided in the home straight.

Little Big Chief was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr J. Collins the representative of the greyhound Jello Allen regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight.  Jello Allan was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right quadriceps injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Jello Allen with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Collins pleaded guilty to the charge.  Jello Allen was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nominations will be accepted.

A sample was taken from Money Dud - winner of the event.
