Steward's Report
Big Black Rocket was quick to begin. Grooven Chris, Flashing Lights, Tunisian, Anton Flash and Piccolo Poppy collided soon after the start, checking Piccolo Poppy and Anton Flash. Anton Flash and Piccolo Poppy collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking Anton Flash. Tunisian eased in the home straight, checking Big Black Rocket. Tunisian and Freddy Perfect collided in the home straight.
Stewards spoke to Mr Phillip Clark, the trainer of the greyhound Tunisian, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Tunisian was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain to the right wrist, and injuries to the left shoulder joint and right fibula; a 14-day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Tunisian with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Clark pleaded guilty to the charge, Tunisian was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks)pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
