Steward's Report
Track Curator, Mr T Dempsey, advised Stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on Monday, 8 May 2017.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Vassallo, the trainer of Mahlo Blackbird, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mahlo Blackbird last raced on 8 January 2017. Mr Vassallo stated that the greyhound was resuming following soreness to both hocks.
Mahlo Blackbird was slow to begin. Chesca, Elke's Osti and Zenstar collided soon after the start, checking Chesca and Elke's Osti. Chesca and Zenstar collided on the first turn. Elke's Osti and Rupcy collided on the first turn. Elke's Osti checked off Zenstar on the first turn.
Zenstar was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left shoulder injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Dee Mini Mouse - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr J Vasallo, regarding the direction that the greyhound Mahlo Blackbird be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.
