Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr S Stefanos, the trainer of Berridale Buddie, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Berridale Buddie last raced on 9 December 2016. Mr Stefanos stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a left triangle injury.
Mr J Mangion, the trainer of Big Roman, declared a new weight of 36.9 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Big Roman last raced at 38.9 kgs.
Big Roman was very slow to begin (4L). Victo Bale, Front Page Lead, Bryden Peter and Winlock Wrighty collided approaching the first turn, checking Victo Bale and Front Page Lead, and severely checking Bryden Peter which fell as a result. Victo Bale and Winlock Wrighty collided on the first turn, checking Victo Bale.
Bryden Peter was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound was displaying general muscle soreness/stiffness, a five day stand down period was imposed.
