Platinum Osti was slow to begin. Duty Sheet and Elke's Osti were very slow to begin (3L). George Regis crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Fine Wine and Little Big Chief. Fine Wine, Duty Sheet and Big Tilly collided approaching the first turn, checking Duty Sheet and Big Tilly. Little Big Chief, Duty Sheet and Big Tilly collided on the first turn, checking Big Tilly, which stumbled as a result. Duty Sheet and Fine Wine raced wide on the home turn and again in the home straight. Elke's Osti and Wishing Angel collided approaching the winning post.
