Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms Jessica Hopkins, the trainer of Iona Regis, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Iona Regis last raced on 14 December 2016 and is returning after an injury to the left stopper and a change of kennel.
A pre-race sample was taken from Jupiter Asending.
Alouette Josie and Bad Size were slow to begin.
Call Me Loulou and Pink Floyd collided soon after the start. Call Me Loulou and Pink Floyd collided at the 300m mark. Bad Size eased at the 250m mark. Bad Size and Jupiter Asending collided at the 150m mark. Bad Size and Call Me Loulou collided approaching the winning post.
Bad Size was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury and trainer, Mr Gary Sciortino, declined to have the greyhound revetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Sciortino, the trainer of the greyhound Bad Size regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 250m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Bad Size with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Sciortino pleaded guilty to the charge, Bad Size was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
