Why Not Barrel and Moonlit Eyes were slow to begin. Casanova and Ving Bale collided approaching the first turn. Casanova, Ving Bale, Irish Asteria, Surefire and Alcyone collided on the first turn, checking Surefire, and severely checking Casanova, Irish Asteria, Why Not Barrel, Moonlit Eyes and Alcyone; Moonlit Eyes raced wide as a result. Moonlit Eyes raced wide in the back straight. Ving Bale and Surefire collided on the third turn and again approaching the home turn, checking Surefire, Why Not Barrel and Ving Bale. Irish Asteria checked off the heels of Why Not Barrel on the home turn.
