Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Heat Policy, the kennel temperature was recorded as 20.4C.
A pre-race sample was taken from Barroom Counsel.
Pelli and Barroom Counsel collided soon after the start. Alpha Triton and Barroom Counsel collided approaching the first turn. Silky Sock, Seven Two, Chrichton Bale and Alpha Triton collided on the first turn. Mr. Stealer eased approaching the second turn, severely checking Barroom Counsel. Pelli and Alpha Triton collided on the second turn. Silky Sock and Seven Two collided on the home turn. Chrichton Bale and Pelli collided approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr Shane Drummond, trainer of the greyhound Mr. Stealer, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the second turn. Mr. Stealer was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a lumbo-sacral injury; a 14day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Mr. Stealer with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Drummond pleaded guilty to the charge, Mr. Stealer was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
