Subsequent to the greyhounds being placed in the boxes it was established that the club track staff were not in the appropriate position at the catching pen gate. As a result all greyhounds were unloaded from the boxes, revetted by the On Track Veterinarian and passed fit to race. The race then commenced 6 minutes late. Stewards spoke to MGRA track staff, Mr. John Mullavey and Mr. Chris Lake and reminded them of the need to ensure that they are at their designated position prior to the start of the event. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.

Destini Blaze was slow to begin.  One Cup Short, Jayco Bale, City Rambler and Nitro Power collided soon after the start.  One Cup Short, Jayco Bale, City Rambler, Nitro Power and Dewana Lass collided approaching the first turn checking Jayco Bale and City Rambler and causing Nitro Power to fall.  Jayco Bale and City Rambler collided on the first turn.  Dewana Lass and Quizmaster collided in the front straight.  One Cup Short checked off Dewana Lass on the third turn.

Nitro Power was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
