Runaround Susan was quick to begin. Gunfighter was slow to begin. Moreira Magic checked off Runaround Susan soon after the start, checking Gunsblaze. Vic For Short, Runaround Susan and Barroom Blazer collided on the first turn, causing Runaround Susan to stumble and falter, checking Gunsblaze and Barroom Blazer, and causing Runaround Susan to tail off. Moreira Magic and Barroom Blazer collided on the home turn. Gunsblaze and Barroom Blazer collided on the home turn. Stress Star raced wide on the home turn. Moreira Magic crossed to the outside in the home straight and collided with Stress Star.
