In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 36.7 degrees and the kennel temperature was 16.0 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.  Pursuant to the GRV Hot Weather Policy, Stewards dispensed with two requirements prior to Race 9, meaning greyhounds were no longer required to remain on course for the specified time, and that the parading of greyhounds was to occur, as the outside temperature had decreased to a reasonable level.

Bronelly Timmy, Cornhill Dodger and Bye Pickles were slow to begin.

Zeke's Girl (visibly eased in the home straight), underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left sesamoid injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Travis Monaghan regarding Zeke's Girl’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Zeke's Girl was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Monaghan pleaded not guilty to the charge. Zeke's Girl was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.  Mr. Monaghan subsequently informed Stewards that the Seke's Girl would be retired following today's event.

Cornhill Dodger (severely checked and contacted the rail turning off the back straight), underwent a post-race veterinary examination.  It was reported that the greyhound was found to have a laceration to the left fore. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
