Steward's Report
A pre-race urine sample was taken from New Sheriff.
Space King was quick to begin. Twilight Digger was slow to begin.
Murray River began slowly, lost ground soon after the start and pulled up in the back straight. A post-race vetarinary examination revealed a toe injury on the left fore, swelling in both hocks and injuries to both gracilis muscles. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
New Sheriff contacted the lure after the finish and subsequently fell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a spike wound injury. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Throw Down visibly eased turning off the back straight and marred Minter Promise on the home turn. Mr. Jye Formosa declined the opportunity to have the greyhound examined by the on-track veterinarian. Stewards spoke to Mr. Formosa regarding Throw Down's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Throw Down was charged with marring. Mr. Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge. Throw Down is suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Due to Murray River having pulled up in the back straight and returning to the vicinity of the starting boxes, the finish of this event was converted to a follow-on lure.
