Unnacceptable Ink was quick to begin. Zipping Columbus and Hard Row were slow to begin.

Orla was checked turning out of the front straight, visibly eased and subsequently pulled up. Orla then proceeded to gallop in the wrong direction around the course towards the oncoming field. Due to Orla being unsecured in the front straight, and in the best interests of safety for all greyhounds, participants and staff, the decision was made to allow the remaining greyhounds to catch the lure on the turn into the home straight. Orla subsquently collided with the stationary lure carriage before proceeding to free gallop around the course for a period of time. Ultimately, Orla was safely caught.

Stewards held the All Clear and subsequently declared the Event a No Race, pursuant to GAR 110. All bets are to be refunded. The weights recorded for the greyhounds are void and do not count for the purposes of the weight rule at the greyhounds’ next start. The event was then abandoned, with prizemoney to be split evenly between the greyhounds which competed.

All Greyhounds engaged in the event were observed post-race by the On-Track Veterinarian. Three Greyhounds underwent extensive veterinary examinations post-race:

- Quick Strike was found to have no apparent injury.

- Hard Row was found to have a right pectoral injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

- Orla was found to have abrasions to the left fore foot, left hind foot and left inside thigh. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. Michelle Carruthers regarding Orla’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Orla was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. Carruthers pleaded guilty to the charge. Orla must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
