Steward's Report
Lamia Margarita – Late scratching at 11.14am when Mr. P. Cusack, Trainer, reported the greyhound to have diarrhoea (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.
Fashion Square was quick to begin. Baby Darcie and Miara were slow to begin.
Baby Darcy raced wide turning off the back straight.
Baby Darcie (lost ground from the first turn and subsequenlty tailed off) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Miara (incident in the catching pen) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a suspected cervical spinal injury with neurological deficits and cardiovascular compromise. Miara was subsequently euthanased and a necropsy will be conducted in accordance with GAR 43.
A post–race urine sample was taken from Fashion Square – the winner of the event.
Supplementary Report (2/7/25) – A necropsy was conducted on Miara. The likely cause of death was marked cardiopulmonary compromise from bilateral pneumothorax and haemorrhage.
