Paw Funk and Paw Inflame were quieck to begin. Dynamize was slow to begin.
Toowoomba Willy (marred Smooth Gas in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative Mr. Ricky Coleman regarding Toowoomba Willy’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Toowoomba Willy was charged with marring. Mr. Coleman pleaded guilty to the charge. Toowoomba Willy was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Ballarat and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
