This race was delayed by approximately 2.5 minutes due to operational matters.
A pre-race urine sample was taken from Furious Falcon.
Somerton Willow was quick to begin. Stone Wall was slow to begin.
Stone Wall (marred Waltzing Harrah in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative Mrs Debbie Selleck regarding Stone Wall's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Stone Wall was charged with marring. Mrs. Selleck pleaded not gulity to the charge. Stone Wall was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Warragul and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race urine sample was taken from Darnum Bear – the winner of the event.
